Sail the Seven Seas, Vicariously
May 04, 2023There are plenty of sailing channels, but some stand out because of their quality.
The best one may be SV Delos. "SV" stands for Sailing Vessel; Delos is the name of their boat (a 53-foot-long Amel Super Maramu ketch), but also a Greek island which in Greek mythology was the birthplace of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis.
I've been watching SV Delos for about eight or ten years--maybe more.
Basically, it all started with two brothers leaving everything behind, getting a sailboat, and crossing the Pacific Ocean--from Mexico to French Polynesia...and then continuing...for 13 years (so far).
They're still sailing, although the crew has changed over the years. The younger brother (Brady) is gone and has founded his own sailing academy (based in Lake Tahoe and San Francisco, California).
The older brother (Brian) is now married to the Swedish girl he met while sailing that first year in New Zealand (Karin)--and they now have a baby girl (Sierra)--and yes they're still sailing!
Personally, I love their earlier episodes--maybe because they're so playful and carefree. Now that they have a daughter it's all a bit different. On the other hand, they are now an adorable sailing family:)
Here's the link to one of their older episodes. Enjoy!
And remember that by now they have over 400 episodes to choose from. Yes, you CAN sail the seven seas...vicariously through them.
